When Love Cries Wolf

Lest you drown in this syrup-filled entry, let me warn you to back out now while you still have the chance. I mean, for me to steel myself and relive this mushy gushy subject is already way, way out of character. So if it doesn't bother you, allow me to indulge in this diatribe on the gray and complicated subject of love. Breathe easy, it's just for this entry. I don't intend to drown you with mush from here on out.

I am not in love. I repeat. I've been stuck in the borderline countless of times but love, in all its pure and simple glory, seems to have eluded me even at this age. An idealistic hopeless romantic always at the edge of romance but who never really got there - yep, that's me. Am I not such a pitiful person? As high as my pride is, I still pity myself in this department. Well sometimes. In other times, I just go through the motions of living with a no-care attitude, wishing for the rest of the world to just STFU (sorry for the abbreviated expletive) and leave me alone. I mean, who cares if I grow old a spinster, right? It's my problem, anyway. Why do I have to lower my standards just so I can run around town with a boy toy in tow? Do I really need a man to be with me until the end of my days? Seriously, my brain's getting numb trying to grasp the whole situation.

Is it me or does love hate me? Please give me the chance to put things in perspective.

HOW to be BETTER (A Better Version):

Before you proceed, be forewarned that the person writing these words is not an expert. She is neither a life coach who knows how to win friends and influence people nor a renowned pastor who can show you the way to a purpose-driven life. The writer is merely an ordinary eccentric female in her mid-20s who thinks that there is more to life than all the superficial things we're seeing or doing.
This piece was also written in response to a search engine/ web portal's rather disappointing life advice article. Whoever wrote that, he or she kind of missed the beat.

The following ramblings are what she thinks matter in each individual's quest for self-growth and betterment:

Oh Mother, Mother, Mother...

It's true what they say. It takes a whole lot of pain and suffering to realize the value of something. Agonizing moments, tear-jerking experiences and pangs of sorrow help us see and realize the things that are worth fighting for after all.

Let us go back to Albert Camus, the existentialist extraordinaire who opened our eyes to the Myth of Sisyphus. Through the example of Sisyphus, a man cursed by the gods for loving life too much, Camus explained to us the entirety of life in a nutshell. If you never took up Philosophy subjects like Philosophy of Man or Ethics back in College, then you pretty much missed the whole point of this Sisyphus dude and why the heck he had to torture himself, rolling a boulder up the peak of a mountain only to have it roll all the way down again.

PEOPLE VS. X

SELF-CENTERED, APATHETIC SOCIETY:

These days, harboring even a bit of hope for a better tomorrow is an unforgivable social crime. Tolerating injustice is an act that must be condoned. If you fail to do so, you'll be scorned.

You've always believed you were born into the wrong era. You thought God deliberately threw you into this generation so you can help move mountains. That or you're just vain. Irrevocably, shamelessly so.

Idealism is a thing of the past. Those ideals are just as good as your dreams. You might even forget them once you snap out of your slumber. They're intangible. They're surreal. They're unnecessary illusions to a person who's wide awake.

YOU ARE AMAZING, FRIEND!

Warning: You can think what you want. At the end of the day, I'm just ranting. LOL!
I DEDICATE THIS RANT TO A FRIEND WHO THINKS HE'S NOT LIVING UP TO SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS. TO EVERYONE ELSE AT ODDS WITH THE REAL WORLD, THIS ONE'S FOR YOU TOO!

TO EVERYONE: HOW DARE YOU!

The May 2013 midterm elections is fast approaching.  Without a doubt, it will come and shake us. Our daily existence will soon be disrupted. We might never even remember ourselves once it's over.

As the day of reckoning draws near, everyone's become less and less human and humane. Everyone's eager to get something out of that bloody field. Everyone wants a piece of that moldy cake. Everyone wants to shoot dirt at each other's faces. But here's what I have say to all of you who have already thrown dignity and integrity out the window in favor of money, power, appearance, comfort and hypocrisy:

HOW DARE YOU!

I repeat. HOW DARE YOU!

Paperman and Signs

I just thought this was amusing. An old-new animation technique that seems to give characters fluidity, as though they really were alive. The story's equally amusing, like a throwback of this romantic short film:

The Perfect Crime: Murder Money!

If I could change one thing about this world - this socially constructed world— or about life in general, then I would abolish the use of money. Reading Jean Baudrillard’s essay, “The Perfect Crime,” brings me to the realization that the world is no longer valued for what it is because money, and the things that can be bought or achieved through it, is now the prevailing reality. Money has enslaved people. Money runs   (sometimes ruins) lives.

I am not blaming money for peoples' fall from grace nor do I think it is “the root of all evil.” Money is both desirable and undesirable, but in my opinion, its desirability is outweighed by the undesirable effects. Wars, global economic meltdowns, racism, gender inequality, violence— if we dig deeper, these global conditions are all related to if not driven by money. I say that men these days have become enslaved because many can no longer dream of an existence without it. The use of money is now tantamount to worshiping a surrogate god.
